Youth ages 5-10 years old gather in Room 205. Godly Play is a process Christian formation and spiritual direction designed to help children become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. Each carefully structured session involves time for community building, a multi-sensory telling of a sacred story from the Bible followed by “wondering” aloud, as well as time for individual reflection and response. Leaders: Emily Daniels, Allyson English, Kary Gray, Jennie Hunt, Emily Riley, Mary Bryan Stewart, Julie & Patrick Tillman and Kristina Wright.
Youth ages 11 years and older gathers in room 203. This group works to build community through sharing, taking time to center down, listening to each other and reflection using the Prayer of Examen. We use the Godly Play resources to tell the stories of the Bible and then spend time in reflection through journaling and discussion. We also incorporate the QuakerSpeak videos serendipitously. Leaders: Greg Woods and Sheila Hoyer.
QuakerSpeak videos interview Friends of all different backgrounds and ask them the core questions of our faith. QuakerSpeak interviews are personal and intimate seeking to give viewers worldwide an experience that is entertaining, informative, inspiring, challenging, inviting, unifying and collaborative. This gathering will also consider a variety of topics including Quaker values that bind us together, racism and nurturing our relationship with God. This gathering meets upstairs in room 208. Leaders: Lou Gordh, Cassandra Israel, Brad McHargue, Jeff Ray, Margaret Rowlett, Greg Woods.
If you have questions please contact Sheila Hoyer.
All sessions are scheduled September through May.
